American Civil War -10mm Project - Part 1

Well here goes with my third attempt at this period(and in a third scale!), and so far and despite my traditional mid-winter painting slump, I have managed to paint enough to start play-testing a few rule sets.

I have gone with 10mm to get the massed rank effect and I thought it would be easier to paint the ridiculous amount of facial hair in 10mm rather than my more usual 6mm choice. After a little research I went with Lancashire Games "Blaze Away" range, being lovely sculpts and the range has almost everything I need.

First up, is the start of my Confederate Brigade, which so far consists of two Regiments an Artillery Battery, Command and I have made a few markers for the rules(Rank & File) that I am leaning towards.

On to the miniatures:

Artillery Battery:

A few stands of infantry in Skirmish order:

The First Infantry Regiment:

And its Command:

Second Infantry Regiment:

And Command:

Brigade Command:

And finally a few Markers/Counters to represent the various conditions that can effect your units

this represents 1 Wound:

Two Wounds(stands are removed once they have received three wounds, so no need for anymore):

And for Morale purposes, this will represent a unit that is Unsteady:

And this will be to show that a unit is Routing:

I want to add another two or three Infantry Regiments, another Artillery Battery and a Cavalry Regiment, plus some Limbers and Supply Wagons to round out the force, but this lot will do for now at least to allow me to do some solo playtesting, well once I have a few Union troops to fight, which I am currently on with.

PocketQuest (I)

A friend and I have been working on a little project, a simple yet fun mini Dungeon Quest type game, in which you control a group of adventurers exploring(ie looting) a randomly determined dungeon. The game covers spells, fighting (obviously) exploring, magic items, traps etc and includes a campaign system so that you can stick with your little characters and watch them advance and become more powerful over time. Whilst written with 6mm mini's in mind, it will work fine with anything up to 20mm.

We have managed to rope in Richard at Perfect 6 mini's and Connor at The Miniature Architect to supply the figures and game boards respectively.

We still need to tweak the rules and to finalise a couple of little details such as having Leven miniatures cast up some dungeon furniture for inclusion in the box, but its almost ready to go into production, before we do though we are trying to gauge interest in this game, as that will effect the numbers on the initial run, so please take the time to look over the following pictures and let me know (by leaving a comment)if you would be interested in this sort of thing:

Distractions & Diversions (2)

As you will plainly see this isn't the Epic Eldar army I planned on posting about, between gaming, painting, bank holiday's, gardening and the fact that I'm still adding formations to the army I haven't got it finished yet, (it's also meant that I have neglected this blog somewhat!) it doesn't  help that I am easily distracted and decided to finish my last few medieval buildings and the walls and towers I have picked up from Leven  to complement my siege equipment that I recently painted. I am not overly happy with these as I rushed through them to get back to the Eldar, still they do the job and at least I now have something to besiege.

Secondly I have painted some of the lovely Copplestone "not" the Fellowship of the Ring miniatures that I acquired through a Facebook group. I really enjoyed painting these as it was a nice change from my usual 6mm stuff but the time it takes in comparison to 6mm puts me off going back to my 10mm Game of Thrones project and from picking up my 10mm Lord of the Rings project at least until I've finished off some more Epic stuff, and the planned 6mm Post Apoc project oh and the 6mm Fantasy army I want.......

And the Lord of the Rings stuff(not too happy with Aragorns face think I'll re-do it at some point):

My next post shouldn't be so long in the posting and will definitely feature my Epic Eldar army, unless the 6mmSci-Fi/Post -Apoc scenery I'm putting together gets in the way!!
