6mm Fantasy Project (8) - (More Pocketquest heroes and some Bits n Bobs)

I have been busy of late with my latest sideline project(more on this in a later post), but in between that I have been trying to finish off a few smaller projects, one of which is my 6mm fantasy stuff, so here are my latest batch, just one more group of about 20 minis to do, but I ran out of putty for the bases:

Perfect 6, rats and spiders:

Baccus, Rapier & Baccus, heroes:

Baccus and H&R, heroes:

Baccus and Irregular, heroes:

Perfect 6, troll and orc:

Baccus, goblins:

Baccus, Elf command:

Perfect 6, pigs and farmer:
A few more heroes and villains including my rapier miniatures Medusa and Minotaurs and this project will be complete, well at least until I get hold of some more characterful minis.

Distractions & Diversions (5) - Faustus Furius 6mm Chariot Racing

Some time ago I started writing my own rules for a simple and cheesy Chariot racing game, I got about half way before getting distracted with something else, and I am glad I did or I would never have picked up Ganesha Games Faustus Furius.

This is a gem of a game and the total buy-in is minimal, a few chariots in whatever your preferred scale and that's it(well the rules of course). The games rules can be mastered in 10 minutes, yet provide everything you need for an evening of great fun, fast simple and fun - the three main ingredients for a good game in my opinion.

All my chariots are 6mm and from Rapier, I simply mixed up the crews for a bit more variety:

Obelisks(from leven0 to act as my turning points(15mm & 6mm mini for scale)

A couple of crashed chariots(Irregular):

Finally, I persuaded the boss to make me a chariot track from a spare bit of material:

Well at least it was 6mm stuff for a change, back to 28mm and 15mm for the next couple of posts.

6mm Fantasy Project (5) - Miscellany

I'm taking a wee break from sci-fi to add a little more to my fantasy stuff, this time around a few odds and ends.

First up some additions to the bad guys with some Demons and Demonologist (minis from MIcroworld):

And as the good guys need something to counter the demonic hordes, some Halflings from Irregular:

And whilst not really fantasy these are a couple of chariots for our intended (non -historical) chariot racing game: (minis from Rapier)

I have a few posts lined up for the coming week or so, including my first foray into 15mm.

6mm Fantasy Project (3)

Well it got a little delayed due to holidays, a dislocated knuckle bone and a small dose of painting apathy, plus I've played a load of games of late, but it's now done, so without further ado here is my 6mm Wood Elf army from Microworld all finished:

The Whole Army

Two units of Spears and Archers

 Three units of Wardancer-types

The all singing and dancing Treekin featuring a Forest Giant

A couple more units of Spears and Archers

 Two units of Centaur Nobles

Hawk rider units

Two units of Medium Centaurs and a unit of Centaur Archers(Archers from Rapier miniatures)

 The General, 2 Hero's and a wizard

I need to add another army to my fantasy collection and have almost made my mind up that I will pick up the Chaos army next, but this will have to wait til the New Year now.

I have based this army for a new game I have been play-testing: Lords & Lands which has been written by a good friend of mine with Microworld's range in mind.

The Game itself is a fairly fast play mass battle wargame aimed at fantasy gaming, although a historical version will be out soon. The rules can be picked up at Caliver books and whilst I am clearly biased I honestly think its a good game with an innovative command/control system which gets the old grey matter working, this involves, spending command pips to activate and order units, the pips can also be spent on magic, or boosting combat, seizing initiative etc, and a decent size game can be played in around 2 hours. Army lists and Quick Reference Sheet can be found here. I believe I will be helping the author with a demo game at Fiasco in Leeds in a couple of weeks time so if any of you are there pop along for a chat.

Next project in the firing line is my third Epic army - The Imperial Guard, which I am about 1/3rd of the way through, although I keep getting distracted by the last of my 1/1200th Napoleonic ships which as we are currently playing a Trafalgar campaign at the club need finishing sooner rather than later.
